Salamanca Island is an extraordinary set of mudflats , marshes and forests which occupies the old estuary of the Magdalena River. It crosses the road linking the cities of Barranquilla and Santa Marta , so its lake and mangrove landscapes can be seen perfectly in the way. It is for this reason that has been given the category of "Via Park " is unique in the National Parks System of Colombia.
